Fierce Latina. Creative painter. Political firebrand. What can I learn from Frida today in 2025?
Frida was the spark of my earliest interest in painting. I retell a story of browsing an art book sale table at Powell’s City of Books and encountering ALL IN A ROW: Kahlo + Caravaggio + Klimt. I was awestruck, and I made a pact with myself to learn to communicate with paint. Lofty pre-internet dreams.
It has been a long hike out of the canyon to this day in 2025, and I can say - a promise to my younger self has been kept.
