Many Americans have the shortest attention spans, if not complete disassociation. The vitriol of MAGA landed on Puerto Rican singer Bad Bunny as he prepared for his Super Bowl 2026 performance. He was able to destroy the hate with a fourteen words: English isn’t my first language. But thats okay, it’s not America’s first language either. Mic drop.

I refer to this disconnect as the colonial hangover that the United States (and G7 nations) are experiencing. Dancing With the Stars, Eurovision and trillion dollar sports leagues cannot cover up the brutality of empire building, though it does offer bright lights and distraction. All sugar, and very little protein.

So fight the good fight. Educate. Organize the good trouble. Resist. This will be the hardest hike out of the canyon… and may we emerge with clarity, conviction and newfound community.
